Carp Fishing on the San Diego Lakes |
The "golden ghost" is one of the most prized game fish in Europe, and is fast becoming a popular target for US fly-fishermen as well! Carp are smart, shy fish that require a precise presentation, and they fight like hell when hooked! San Diego has several lakes with large carp that feed in shallow water, providing excellent opportunities for taking one on the long rod. Join us for a day of sight-casting to tailing fish, either wading or casting from the deck of our shallow-water skiff. Click HERE to watch some hot carp action! |

San Diego and Mission Bay Fishing Trips |
![]() Spotted Bay Bass |
The calm, sheltered waters of San Diego and Mission Bays offer outstanding fishing for a medley of inshore species. Our primary target is the Spotted Bay Bass, but we also encounter Sand and Calico Kelp Bass, Shortfin Corvina, Bonefish (yes, the same fish found on Florida flats), Halibut, Barracuda, Bonito and Mackerel. This is an ideal trip for the person just starting out salt water fly fishing, as the action can be fast and furious on smaller fish, using 5 - 7wt rods. And don't discount the fight - Spotted Bay Bass will fight as hard as any smallmouth bass of the same size, so be prepared for a tussle!
Fishing in the bays can depend on many factors, such as the tides, so please contact us in advance to help you plan your trip.
